Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo appointed as new SSNIT boss

President Akufo-Addo has announced the appointment of Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo as the new Director General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT). Mr. Osafo-Maafo, son of the President’s former Minister and current Senior Advisor, Yaw Osafo-Maafo, will assume the leadership role at SSNIT.

This appointment follows the directive for Dr. John Ofori-Tenkorang, the former Director General of SSNIT, to hand over his duties by Monday, April 15, 2024. In a letter dated April 8, 2024, signed by the Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante, and addressed to Dr. John Ofori-Tenkorang, it was stated that the President has terminated his appointment effective April 15, 2024, with three months’ salary in lieu of notice.

Dr. Ofori-Tenkorang was directed to hand over his office to Mr. Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo and collect any terminal benefits he may be entitled to. The letter emphasized the need for a smooth transition, requiring Dr. Ofori-Tenkorang to cease acting as the Director General of SSNIT no later than close of business on Monday, April 15, 2024.

The President expressed gratitude to Dr. Ofori-Tenkorang for his service to the nation and extended his best wishes.
