Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, Apologises to President Akufo-Addo
Sarah Adwoa Safo, the Member of Parliament representing the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency, has extended a sincere apology to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership, including President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, for her recent actions. In a heartfelt message, Mrs. Safo explained that her behavior was unintentional and stemmed from personal challenges she was facing on both an individual and familial level.
Furthermore, the former Deputy Majority Leader has earnestly sought forgiveness from the Majority Caucus, as well as from the party’s regional and constituency executives. She conveyed her remorse through a two-minute video statement posted on her Facebook page, urging her constituents to find it in their hearts to forgive her for her actions.
In 2022, Adwoa Safo faced scrutiny by the Privileges Committee of Parliament due to her extended absence from parliamentary sessions. The status of her seat became a point of contention, with fellow Majority members advocating for its declaration as vacant, despite opposition from National Democratic Congress (NDC) MPs.
Currently, the Speaker has yet to issue a ruling based on the Committee’s report. Following her return from the United States of America, where she had been residing, the former Minister of Procurement has expressed her intention to participate in the party’s primaries for the 2024 elections.
